What Is Global Warming
When average temperature of the earth’s surface increases, it leads to global warming. The effect of greenhouse gases causes global warming. The greenhouse effect is caused by deforestation or the burning of fuel fossils leading to emissions of carbon dioxide and other kinds of greenhouse gases. Heat gets trapped instead being able to escape from the Earth’s surface. A thick blanket is formed due to the collection of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere like air pollution and carbon dioxide. Heat of the sun gets trapped within the thick blanket and causes the planet or the surface of the earth to warm or heat up. Every year tons of carbon dioxide is produced to form the thick blanket around the atmosphere of the earth.

Average temperature on the surface of the oceans and the air surface increases significantly, leading to global warming. In the last ten decades it has been seen that temperature of the earth has seen a gradual increase by about one degree Fahrenheit as indicated by studies. At the time the industrial revolution took place, a profound increase in temperature has been seen. Pattern of weather on planet earth as of today is not the same as it has been some decades ago. One of the major issues of the environment in the present times is global warming.

In the year 1896 a hypothesis on global warming originated from a chemist, Svante Arrhenius from Sweden that fossil fuel burning would cause temperatures in the globe to rise and in the process heat up the atmosphere of the earth. At that time itself it was understood that the greenhouse effect caused global warming. Solar radiation gets reflected back into space to an approximate fifty percent, the rest gets absorbed by the oceans and the land masses due to which there is increase in temperature and warming of the atmosphere and the surface of the earth.
Energy is radiated by this process of warming and this energy passes first through the atmosphere and into space, back. Carbon dioxide, water vapor and other greenhouse gases covert this energy into heat, reflect it to the surface of the earth back or absorb it. Gases trapping heat work like a greenhouse where the light of the sun passes through however trapping of radiated heat is also caused leading to global warming. Increase in greenhouse gases is resulting to increase in global temperatures unprecedentedly causing harm to human health and the environment.

Causes Of Global Warming
Global warming is caused due to a number of things. A lot of carbon dioxide is released in the air by automobiles plying on the roads. A large number of power plants that burn coal release a lot of carbon dioxide into the air leading to pollution. Electrical pollution also causes global warming. To create electricity, a large number of fossils are burned. Fossils are nothing but dead animals and plants. Petroleum and oil are fossil fuel example. Land, air and water gets polluted by chemicals or pollutants which then get sent into the air when there is burning of fuels.
Greenhouse gases are some of these chemicals. A lot of energy sources are used as compared to sources giving out pollution to a lesser extent. One energy source used a lot is petroleum which is used for making electricity, transportation use, etc. It is use in many of the countries as an energy source which gives out a lot of pollution.

Greenhouse gases get sent into the air when things like TV, lights, stereos, washing machines, cars, microwave, air conditioners, dish washers, video games, perfumes, incenses etc are used. Pollution is caused in the process of producing electricity. At any given point of time, millions of people all over the world are using these things causing pollution and in turn global warming. Hence using electricity to the least extent is necessary.

Garbage filled into landfills is burned often leading to release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere of the earth causing global warming. Cutting down of trees also leads to global warming. Human breathing also releases carbon dioxide but to absorb, plants and trees are needed. Cutting down trees leads to an increase of carbon dioxide in the air. When trees are less, then humans have less oxygen to breathe and more greenhouses in the air.

Burning of gas, coal, oil and other kinds of fossil besides burning down of forests etc. leads to an overload of carbon dioxide into the air. The increasing number of different kinds of vehicles on the roads has led to global warming. In many of the underdeveloped regions, wood is still being used for burning leading to pollution and global warming in the process.

Effects Of Global Warming On Weather Around The Globe
In a greenhouse effect, there is a rise in temperature since the light and the heat of the sun get trapped in the atmosphere of the earth just as it gets trapped inside a car on hot summer days. Light enters into the car through the windows but it is not able to come out. The same applies to global warming. The earth gets affected by the greenhouse effect in a similar way. The heat and light enters into the atmosphere but it cannot get out resulting into rise in temperature.

In a way the greenhouse affects the earth positively by making it an appropriate enough to live on or else it would freeze during the night times or it would burn hot during the day time. Even if greenhouse has positive effects to some extent, the reality that there are too many greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere making the plants warmer unusually, so much so that humans, animals, plants and trees could die. It would be difficult to grow fruits, corn, vegetables or fruits etc due to excess heat. With lesser food it can make survival of life extremely difficult.

Every life form could die due to hunger.
Many parts of the world get affected by global warming. Level of sea rises, and covers many of the islands in low land areas posing life threatening danger to all life forms like people, animals and plants. Plants get covered with water and die and animals lose food sources, like vegetation, crops. Humans in turn lose food sources when animals and plants die. All this leads to a break in the chain of food.

Oceans too are affected by global warming. Algae in the oceans get killed due to warming of water. Algae are important sea animal food. Whales, small fish, crabs etc consume algae for survival sake. Forest fires are a result of global warming. The earth gets very hot leading to drying of leaves and branches due to which they catch fire easily. The other effect of global warming is that the climate of the earth is gradually changing as well. The planet is being threatened due to changing climates. Temperatures have been increasing leading to changing in patterns of weather. Seasons like do not arrive during the same months as they did a few decades back. They either come in early in some regions or delayed further in other regions of the world.

Long And Short Term Effects Of Global Warming
Global Warming has different kind of effects on planet earth. For transportation purposes fuels are used which in the process emit carbon dioxide. Irreversible effects have been caused on the environment. While some of the effects can be seen already, more effects are expected in the coming years. It will take a lot of effort to rectify the situation and enough efforts are not being put in the present times. There is no denial to the harmful effects, global warming can have. A host of problems are guaranteed to the present as well as the future generations to come.
Global warming does have a noticeable long term effect on climate and weather. There is increase in the rate of tropical storms, drought occurrence and heat waves due to increased heating. In direction of lower temperatures, extreme shifts are caused by global warming. Huge spikes come downwards in colder temperature which last for a short time.

Global warming can also affect seismic activities and earthquakes on a long term as seen in the past few years due to increase in temperatures all over the world. Volcanic activities have also been affected by global warming. More volcanoes are erupting spontaneously in the present times. There is also a strong reduction in glacial retreat leading to eruptions of volcanoes. Global warming also has long term affects on glacial retreats and glaciers. Due to constant warming of the earth it can cause rise in the level of the sea and mass flooding in the process.

Many parts of the world are experiencing shortage of water and is expected to increase over the longer term. It will be difficult to carry out extensive agricultural activities. Snow covering the mountains is melting gradually and the chances of having snow covered mountains after some centuries can also increase.
The short term effect is already seen on the supplies of fresh water used for drinking, irrigation, and use of animals and plant growth. Global warming also has an effect on biochemistry of ocean water which is important for marine species survival. For human survival the marine species survival is very important. To regulate the ocean chemistry it is important for the marine animals and species to survive. If there are no marine species then the ocean can become toxic resulting in air toxification. Carbonic acid forms when water from the ocean reacts with the carbon dioxide emitted from the fuels. This in turn affects survival over a long term.

Recorded Facts Of Global Warming
A number of facts on global warming have been recorded. The earth is getting hotter and hotter and that too at a faster rate and there is no doubt about this. Global warming is the fault of humans and can be slowed down in consumption of fossil fuels is reduced. Many warnings are already being provided about the change in climatic conditions which can scare any environmentalist. Efforts will have to be made whether it is changing lifestyles or reduce the number of vehicles being used.
One fact is that the Andes snowy peaks in Alaska are being affected by global warming. The level of heat has increased in different parts of the world by global warming. The temperature over the past decade has been one degree Fahrenheit however some of the remote and coldest regions are warming up more. Melting of ice is increasing, rivers are drying up, eroding of coasts is taking place and communities are being threatened. The heat is being experienced by the fauna and flora too, which is already a reality.

The European region was balmy and in England a lot of grape wines grew, thousands of years back. In the next four decades the climate became as chilly as ever and freezing of Thames took place. The global warming occurring currently is guaranteed to have adverse affects on the planet earth and the environment.
Gas, oil, coal and other fossil fuels are being burned and forests are being cleared off since centuries, releasing heat trapping gases and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The oceans and plants are not able to soak them up as much. Extra thick blankets of pollutants in atmosphere are being piled up. Deforestation is taking place on a large scale for various purpose and not many trees are being replanted. Forest fires are also on the increase due to drying up of leaves and trees.

Humans are very much responsible for global warming over the centuries. Volcanic eruptions, changes in seasons, etc are being affected. Natural rhythms of the earth have been affected due to global warming. The Arctic and the Antarctic region, the Himalayan mountain ranges, snow covered regions across the world are all already being negatively affected by the global warming effect. People are already dying due to the effect of heat waves, across different parts of the world. Governments of countries need to take immediate action to ensure that the emissions of greenhouse gases are limited gradually.
